American multinational corporation Tyson Foods believes that its products are more than sustenance—they are a vehicle for good. Committed to impacting positive change for customers, team members, and local communities alike, this food industry leader turned to OTJ Architects for the design of a new government affairs office that would model the organization’s purpose, values, and spirit of hospitality.

OTJ Architects embraces the design process’ ability to reveal optimal space usage solutions while propelling each clients’ unique culture. Our designers and architects partnered with Tyson Foods’ leadership and real estate team from the onset of this project to align design efforts to mission critical business objectives. Together, we identified strategies to reduce real estate costs while increasing the performance and agility of this high visibility workplace. The resulting program features a transparent and rapidly reconfigurable multi-function conference space that supports both internal and public facing events.

Central to the concept, however, is an arresting showcase kitchen – a theatre stage for the culinary arts where a rotating cast of celebrity chefs can engage with high profile visitors. Drawing on experience gained through the design of nearly 30 such kitchens for nationally recognized brands and trade associations, our team assessed lines of sight, work surface square footage requirements, and mechanical considerations to provide Tyson Foods with a platform for the exploration of emerging food trends.

Eschewing traditional display methods, Tyson Foods workplace highlights the organization’s products and global reach through an integrated video wall complete with touch-screen technology. Lastly, the design harmonizes natural materials such as reclaimed wood, biophilic elements, and blackened steel against a palette inspired by Tyson Food’s own family of products.
