Global Audio Streaming Provider
Set in the heart of Miami’s burgeoning Wynwood District – where every surface is a canvas for street-inspired art – the new headquarters of this global audio streaming provider activates a former ship repair warehouse through agile working practices and Tropical Modernist design gestures.
The client is committed to implementing best practices in space utilization across a global real estate portfolio equally informed by local design influences and universal standards. Accordingly, our team articulated the program as a fully agile destination, complete with 100% free addressing. Whereas offices are absent from the floorplan, staff members are empowered to set the parameters for their workday by selecting from a myriad of space typologies best suited to the task at hand.
In keeping with the mandate to deliver a workplace that reflects both South Florida’s design heritage as well as the bold influence of contemporary Latin American interiors, the team selected materials that harmonize aesthetic references while amplifying the client’s brand. Examples include terrazzo floors, breeze blocks, and a custom neon fixture that references Miami’s burgeoning street art scene. Further, references to Latin American hospitality abound: Upon entry, staff and visitors alike are greeted not by a receptionist but by a concierge and “Cafecito” barista. The design also emphasizes equity through critical spatial considerations such as gender-neutral restrooms as well as wellness and quiet rooms.
Delivered in the throes of a global pandemic, the design of this new workplace challenged the team to leverage the capabilities of a technology arsenal that facilitates visualization and empowers more informed, confident decision making for client and consultants alike. While ZOOM, GoogleMeet, and BIM supported a robust virtual exchange, homes, driveways, and garages doubled as finish studios until in-person meetings could resume, nearly two years after kick-off. Lastly, the client and design teams drew on shared local and Latin American roots to arrive at a built environment that is authentically integrated into its architectural surroundings.
