Located at the epicenter of Chicago’s celebrated Randolph corridor, the new Roland Berger headquarters is a home base for a staff that spends much of its time on-site with national clients. Utilization studies informed the development of a floorplan that encourages individuals to select the space type best suited to the realization of the day’s tasks. A collaboration “garden” anchors the floorplate and features integrated whiteboards, biophilic elements, brand accents, and layered lighting designed to support brainstorming and informal teamwork.

Further, a café complete with acoustic coffered ceilings and an adjoining game room serves as a social and operational hub where consultants can regroup between client visits, connect with colleagues, and prepare for upcoming engagements. A considered mix of project rooms, presentation spaces, flexible meeting environments, and informal gathering areas round out the program to support both focused work and team interaction.

At its heart, the new Roland Berger headquarters is a celebration of brand identity and of the firm’s deep-rooted connection to the Windy City. A wave-inspired pixel wall featuring more than 120 references to Chicago serves as a signature entry focal point, while conference rooms named after local landmarks reinforce a strong sense of place. Our team developed a myriad of environmental graphic solutions that include decorative and cloaking film applications, reeded glass, and custom panels in the café balance transparency with the privacy required for confidential client work. In concept and built form, the Roland Berger workplace emerges as a calibrated expression of culture, place, and reach – one sure to propel forward the continued evolution of the firm’s practice and the success of its people.
